Pemberley Place, Bath Extra Care accommodation is launched

Published: Thursday 11 October 2018

Work on Pemberley Place is well underway, with 72 modern, spacious apartments for over 55s being built in the Lansdown area of the historic city of Bath. Developed by Hanover, in partnership with Bath and North East Somerset Council (B&NES), 29 of the one and two-bedroomed apartments will be offered for affordable rent.

Pemberley Place was officially launched on 10 July, with the ceremony being attended by dignitaries from B&NES, Homes England and Hanover. Students from the neighbouring Abbot Alphege Academy were also there, having created some colourful artwork depicting their vision of older people for the site hoardings.

Speaking at the launch, Chair of Hanover, Dr Stuart Burgess said: ‘Bath is a highly desirable place to live. We hope that this development will offer those living locally the opportunity to benefit from high quality, secure and well maintained properties. The design includes an inviting communal hub to help encourage the wider local community to visit and help make best use of the facilities and services available.’

Designed around an attractive landscaped quadrangle, the new apartments will provide a chance to remain independent by moving to a comfortable, low-maintenance home that’s easier to manage, while not compromising on style and space. With easy access to the city centre for shopping and socialising, Pemberley Place also benefits from having the beautiful Somerset countryside right on the doorstep.

The new homes will offer flexibility to adjust to your changing needs, with access to support if required.

So if you’re over 55 and live in the B&NES local authority area, please call B&NES Homesearch Team 01225 396098.

Alternatively, you can email homeseach@bathnes.gov.uk, or visit homesearchbathnes.org.uk/ to register your interest in extra care housing.

Do you know someone aged over 55 struggling in their own home?

Published: Friday 29 June 2018

Are you, or do you know someone who is struggling in their own home? Are they aged over 55yrs?

If so they could be eligible for sheltered housing through Homesearch. You can apply for sheltered housing no matter what your financial circumstances, and irrespective of whether you live in a home you own, privately rented accomodation or in social housing. So if you are struggling with your stairs, or can't manage the garden any more, or know someone who is please get in touch with us on 01225 396118.

Sheltered properties are for older or disabled applicants who have support needs but wish to live independently. Properties are typically one bedroom bungalows or flats and have wardens on site or an assistance alarm system.

If an applicant lives in a social housing property that is now to big for them, and are downsizing to a sheltered flat or bungalow you could also get extra priority for a quicker move in order that your current home can be offered to one of the many families on our waiting list. We can also do a home visit if you are unable to get to our offices to apply, or do not have access to a computor to apply online, just mention this during your call.
