Free, independent housing support from DHI’s Reach

Reach is a free and completely independent housing advice service run by charity Developing Health & Independence (DHI). We are not part of a housing association or local authority, so the advice we give is impartial and always focused on what’s best for you.

You can contact Reach with confidence if you’re having difficulties with a landlord, housing association, or your housing situation more generally.

We provide practical support to help people stay in their homes or find somewhere suitable to live, tailoring support to each person’s circumstances.

As well as housing advice, Reach helps people maximise their income. This includes support to apply for benefits people may be missing out on, such as Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit, and other financial support that can significantly increase household income.

Our support includes:

  • Help with managing rent arrears to prevent eviction
  • Independent advice on issues with landlords or housing associations
  • A full free resettlement service, including applying for grants for furniture and white goods, arranging removals, and setting up utilities when moving home
  • Support for people moving on from homelessness or temporary accommodation
  • Short‑term, effective help – most people no longer need the service after six months

How to contact Reach

You can also find a referral form for the service on the DHI website.
