Step 1 - Registration

You will be able to apply for properties through Homesearch if you are a housing applicant and have registered on the Homesearch Register. For details on how to apply to join the housing register click Who Can Use the Service.

When you are accepted on to the Homesearch Register we will write to tell you:

  • Your housing application number
  • The Group your application has been placed in and your effective application date. Click Prioritising Applications for more information.
  • The number of bedrooms you are entitled to.

You must tell us if there are any changes in your circumstances so that we can reassess your application and if necessary make changes to your Group and effective application date.

Property Size

You will only be eligible for properties that are suitable for the size of your family. The following table tells you how we normally decide on the number of bedrooms that you are eligible for:

Parent/couple with 1 child under 8 and pregnant

Parent/couple with 2  children same sex (eldest 8 years or over)

 

 

 

Parent/couple with 2 children of different sex (eldest 8 year or over)

 

 

 

 

Parent/couple with 2 children and pregnant with 3rd child

 

 

 

 

Parent/couple with 3 or more children

 

 

 

Due to the shortage of larger accommodation, families who need four or more bedrooms will be considered for large three bedroom properties.  The decision on whether the size of the accommodation is suitable for the family will ultimately be made by the Registered Social Landlord.
